The Matt Savage Trio performs at Dizzy's at Jazz at Lincoln Center February 5, 2007
On February 5th, 2007, Matt had the honor of performing with his Trio at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. He and his Trio were the opening performers for ASCAP’s second annual “Month of Mondays” Jazz Series – a program showcasing talented young jazz creators at a major jazz venue.

The last time he had visited Dizzy’s was to hear Marian McPartland perform; but this time Matt was on the stage. As an add-on to this fantastic experience, Matt performed at the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in New Jersey the next day for children at the hospital well enough to leave their rooms. The show was recorded and broadcast to patients' rooms at St. Joseph's, as well other children's hospitals within the MMC (Medical Missions for Children) Network. To further this wonderful experience, MMC is currently (as of August 2007) creating a video to teach people with AIDS in Africa and other Third World Countries how to properly take their medication. The medication is not supposed to be swallowed but placed between gum and cheek and allowed to dissolve. The music recorded by Matt for the children at the hospital will now also be used to help both children and adults world-wide. We are in awe that one of our seemingly small endeavors to make the world better for others has propelled from just reaching children in the hospital to a world-wide mission. I guess no charitable endeavor is too small. We are SO thrilled to be a part of two such worthy and needed projects!!!!!!!! Honored to say the VERY least! |
