Matt Plays The Jazz Bakery
On October 24, 2006 The Matt Savage Trio traveled all the way to Los Angeles (Actually Culver City) California to perform at the famed venue, “The Jazz Bakery”. It is a fantastic venue if you have the chance to go. A great place acoustically and one where there are no drinks or food served inside the stage area so you don’t have to fight with the noises of people talking or glasses clinking or people eating to hear the music. It was a big deal for Matt to do this performance, and it required a lot of preparation on our part to get him ready for the gig…not because the concert was any different from his usual gigs, but because of the time zone difference. The shows were at 8 PM and 9:30 PM California time…that’s an 11 PM and 12:30 AM START time New Hampshire time. We started letting Matt stay up late for about a week before we traveled to CA. He was going to bed about 12:30 or 1 AM our time by the time we went to LA. But he was STILL tired doing the second show. I asked him after we returned how he felt about doing two shows and staying up that late. He said that although he was tired, he had a GREAT time and was VERY glad to have performed there. He’s already talking about our NEXT trip to the west coast… We’ll be back to The Jazz Bakery for sure!!!!
