Matt Savage on "Eric in the Evening"
Matt did an appearance on the famed “Eric in the Evening” radio program on WGBH Boston, 89.7 FM, with Eric Jackson on Tuesday, November 14th. If you haven’t heard Eric Jackson’s program, he has a fantastic show. He is a wealth of knowledge about everything jazz, both old and new. He has history and stories and little known facts that he intersperses with his great selections of music. And his deep voice is so wonderful on radio. You can listen to it on the internet if you don’t live in New England. WGBH is WEBCAST! Meeting Eric in person is just as wonderful as hearing him on radio, only MORE so. He is charming, quick with a smile and, yes, knowledgeable about jazz. This was Matt’s second interview on the show. This one was to talk about Matt’s newly released CD, “Quantum Leap”. Eric played SEVERAL cuts from the album, asking Matt about the songs he was going to play on the radio, how he got started in music and about more personal stuff such as Matt’s interests. The conversation when the music was playing and the guys were OFF the air was just as enjoyable. Eric is a fascinating man. Matt told me he would LOVE to spend time looking through Eric’s jazz collection one day! If you missed the interview, it was really great. But Matt will be back with Eric again in the future.
