Matt Returns to Montel

Aired on December 26, 2003

As you have probably read on our web site, Matt and I appeared on The Montel Williams Show last May. Well, we (and the folks at Montel) had such a great time that they invited us back to appear on a show about inspiring people. There were all sorts of terrific people who appeared on the show. It was a lot of fun. But, as usual, it was not the being on television that Matt most enjoyed. It was hanging out with his friends Montel and Robin (the producer at Montel), going out eat at The Carnegie Deli and The Brooklyn Diner, seeing Times Square all lit up, and seeing the beginnings of the holiday lights go up around Manhattan.

The Montel Show itself was easy-going, as usual, with Montel at the helm. When Matt started to tire out a bit, late in the show (when he was off camera), Montel called out to him during a commercial break. Matt, in his inimitable fashion, skipped up to Montel, sat beside him, and started chatting (oblivious to the cameras and the audience). Given that the commercial break was about to end, Montel waved off the directors, asked Matt if he could read the teleprompter off to their right. Matt read the words perfectly, so Montel told Matt to read the teleprompter out loud when the camera man pointed to him. So, the show came back from commercial break to Matt reading the intro to the next segment. It was great! Montel made a comment that Matt could do that well too (just like everything else). Then, Montel had Matt play one more tune on the piano for the audience.

Afterwards, Montel and Matt, in their excited discussion about roller coasters, decided that they would visit their “ultimate” coaster to ride together. I’m not going to say the NAME of the coaster, because there are SO many great ones out there, but the two coaster enthusiasts plan to catch the ride together, if possible. Should be interesting… Matt loves to DESIGN coasters, but has never ridden a large, fast one. Montel travels all over the world seeking out new coasters to ride! We’ll keep you updated.
