The View May 27, 2003
Matt and I traveled back to NY on May 27th, 2003 so that Matt could appear on the show “The VIEW - with Barbara Walters”. For those of you not familiar with The View, it is a show geared towards women. It is comprised of a panel of women who get together and discuss everything from politics and news to fashion to Hollywood. No topic is off-limits. It is sometimes hosted by Barbara Walters (as her busy schedule allows). What makes the show interesting is that each of the women has her own perspective on issues…hence the name of the show. And as you can guess, there are some heated and lively and humorous discussions.
Anyway, Matt and I went on the show to do a segment on talented children. There were two other children featured on the show. It was a very brief interview and performance by Matt, but the folks there were very nice. It was interesting to meet in person the women who comprise the panel. Talk about different personalities! Lisa Ling was there, having returned from a trip overseas, and of course, there was Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar, and Star Jones.
The day we were there, Barbara Walters was there also. She was very nice, spoke with me, and remembered Matt from his appearance on “20/20”. And there were some fascinating guests on the show… Tom Cavanaugh (of the television show “Ed” fame), who kindly allowed me to photograph him in the make-up room and graciously smiled as I told him how much I liked his show, Yoko Ono (yes, THE Yoko Ono… who was bright, funny, beautiful, and articulate). And there was the winner of “The American Idol” competition (Ruben Studdard, a singer). Matt had an enjoyable time and liked meeting the other children featured on the show that day.
