Matt Savage Trio to Perform on “Late Show with David Letterman” on Tuesday, January 29, 2008
First National Television Appearance for Trio’s New Live Album, “HOT TICKET: Live in Boston”
NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – January 28, 2008) – The Matt Savage Trio will appear on “Late Show with David Letterman” on Tuesday, January 29, in support of their new live jazz album, “HOT TICKET: Live in Boston.” The show, which airs at 11:30 PM ET on CBS, marks the Trio’s first national television broadcast to promote “HOT TICKET.” The Trio will perform the highly energetic composition “El Fuego,” one of twelve cuts on the new album.
Matt Savage wrote “El Fuego” (“The Fire” in Spanish) when the jazz prodigy was ten years old, and performed it for his first headlining show at the famed New York jazz club, Birdland, in 2004. It was originally recorded for Savage’s 2003 “Chasing Your Tail” album. The latest live version of “El Fuego” delivers a much more dynamic and adventurous rendition of the song with Savage, now fifteen, on keyboards and new trio members Dave Robaire on bass and Joe Saylor on drums.
“HOT TICKET,” which was released on January 22 and distributed by Palmetto Records (MRI/RED), is already receiving rave reviews. The All Music Guide wrote, “This is staggeringly exciting jazz, no matter the artist’s age.” “HOT TICKET” is the Trio’s first album produced by Grammy-nominated Jonathan Wyner and engineered by nine time Grammy-winner Tom Bates. The album features eight new Savage-penned songs, three tracks revisited and Miles Davis’ “Seven Steps to Heaven.”
Jazz radio has serviced “HOT TICKET” with nationwide airplay officially beginning today. Neal Sapper and Matt Hughes from New World ‘N’ Jazz (www.newworldnjazz.com) are handling the radio promotion.
